About Us

Radmetrix helps trials succeed by streamlining clinical trial Reviewer management.
A little history –

Radmetrix began in 2015, but our roots go much deeper than that.

As a seasoned body imaging radiologist, Dr. Ira Smalberg is a recognized expert in numerous oncologic quantitative imaging criteria (including RECIST 1.0, RECIST 1.1, iRECIST, irRECIST, mRECIST, Deauville, Hallek, Lugano, LYRIC, RECIL, and others).  Ira has been a clinical trial site reviewer and a blinded independent central reviewer for many years, working with academic cancer centers, imaging core laboratories (ICLs), imaging Contract Research Organizations (iCROs), and sponsors.

Ira’s firsthand experience with the challenges of being a busy reviewer, and then finding and engaging other qualified reviewers for clinical trials led him to create Radmetrix. Since its beginnings as a collegial network of radiologists with experience in clinical trial oncology reviews, Radmetrix has grown into a global, multi-specialty physician group for clinical trial reader support, with 150+ contracted experts, including radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, cardiologists, ophthalmologists, pulmonologists, ENT surgeons, dermatologists, gastroenterologists, and others.

Radmetrix engages the best-qualified experts, physician-specialists who command the precise sub-specialties needed to meet your specific clinical trial requirements. Our methods of recruitment, engagement, and retention reduce study measurement variability and potential systemic reader bias, while meeting tight timelines.

Since its inception, Radmetrix has supported over 250 clinical trials and has successfully completed over 400,000 reads. Our clients are repeat customers because of our high-quality results and because we have invested in easy-to-use, scalable, and reliable processes for reviewer recruitment, contracting, and billing.

Dr. Smalberg remains at the helm. He is also currently on the executive board of PINTAD (the Pharmaceutical Imaging Network in Therapeutics and Diagnostics). Dr. Smalberg lectures about reader challenges related to central reviews in clinical trials, quantitative imaging criteria, and other subjects.  He presents at national meetings and has authored numerous journal articles.
